Inca Trail Availability
Inca Trail Availability
Since 2000 the Inca trail has been regulated by the government of Peru. This has provided many wonderful things, like clean trails and camping sites, but it has also limited the amount of people on the trail each day. Now only 500 people are permitted on the trail every morning – this includes hikers, guides, porters and cooks. If your date is not available, don’t worry, there are many wonderful alternative treks to Machu Picchu – just as beautiful as the Inca trail and not as crowded. But we know most of you dream of doing the Inca trail. Below are links to the government site listing how many spots are still available for each day in REAL TIME. Book quickly, they fill up fast.

This year the Inca Trail permits are selling very quickly! Please click on the month you want below, and check availability for the date you want before booking your Inca Trail trek. Remember that you only need a permit for your start date. We book permits the same day we receive your Booking Form and deposit (except Sunday, when the permit office is closed). If you are locked into a certain date and there is no availability on the Inca Trail – do not despair! We offer many fascinating alternative treks – Lares, Salkantay, Huchuy Qosqo, amongst others. Most end at Machu Picchu and offer a marvelous alternative to the Inca Trail, without requiring a permit. Go to our Home Page and click on the tab for Alternative Treks to Machu Picchu for more information. Nig Adventures will create amazing expeditions to Machu Picchu, with great guides, chefs, and the unmatchable, unstoppable ‘Green Machine’ Porters, as well as the best equipment tents, sleeping bags, mattresses and pillows.

This is real time availability from the Peruvian Government website. If it is shown as SOLD OUT then it is sold out for every agency (this availability is not specific to our agency). There is no waitlist for cancellations, and permits are non-fundable and non-transferable once purchased. These are Peruvian government regulations.
This availability is for permits to enter the Inca Trail only. If you are limited to a date that is already sold out for the Inca Trail, we can still do Alternative Treks which end up in Machu Picchu, and we can also do Train Tours to Machu Picchu. There are usually still Entrance Tickets into Machu Picchu available within a couple of weeks of any given date.
January 2018 Inca Trail permits are available, though they are not shown here. Either fill in our Booking Form or email us for details. Inca Trail is closed for the month of February.
A valid passport is required to enter the Inca Trail. If you don’t already have a passport (or it will expired within 6 months of your entry into Peru) and you need to apply for one, we can still book the Inca Trail for you. We will need your name exactly as it will be shown on your passport, your date of birth, your nationality and your gender. We can add your passport number when you get it as long as it is a week before your entry date onto the Inka Trail.
If you are interested in booking Inca Trail 2018 (March-December) permits now, we can make all of the arrangements for you now at 2017 prices. Contact us for more information.
